ISO has mandated that all of its new or revised management system standards use the same high-level structure, definitions, and common text. The ISO 14001 standard on environmental management systems currently is being revised to reflect this new approach. At a minimum, this revision will result in a complete reorganization of the ISO 14001 standard. The existing requirements already have been re-ordered and significantly rewritten to fit within the new high-level structure. The revision is not stopping there, however.
