Schaunaman, G. Samuel

Samuel Schaunaman specializes in the areas of oil & gas, ERISA/employee benefits, retail, and exempted property types within the field of unclaimed property. He has over 25 years of unclaimed property experience in all aspects of unclaimed property consulting, including the design and implementation of unclaimed property reporting systems and audit defense.

He received his B.A., M.A., and J.D., from the University of South Dakota.

Mr. Schaunaman is a co-author of Bloomberg BNA Corporate Practice Portfolio Series No. 74-3rd, Unclaimed Property.  This portfolio discusses the law concerning unclaimed property, which has been in effect in various states, in one form or another, since at least the early 1800s, but has become in recent years a much more important source of revenue to the states, and, therefore, a much more serious matter for corporations.  It also provides a discussion of the history and evolution of unclaimed property law and an analysis of the basics of unclaimed property law, including the uniform acts that have been approved by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws ("NCCUSL").
