Ray J. Schoonhoven (deceased) was a Partner at Seyfarth Shaw in Chicago, where he specialized in employment law and labor relations, prior to his retirement in 1992. His clients included such notable companies as Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock (the largest shipyard in the country where the Navy's nuclear carriers and submarines are built), the University of Notre Dame, Walker Manufacturing (a major supplier to the automotive industry), and Maremont Corporation.

Mr. Schoonhoven served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later served in the Navy Reserves. He was a graduate of Notre Dame and the Northwestern University Law School.

He was the Editor of the Bloomberg BNA treatise Fairweather's Practice and Procedure in Labor Arbitration.
