SEC - Focus on Insider Trading 2016

Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement investigations are very focused on personal benefit as the result of a federal appeals court decision vacating the insider-trading convictions of two former portfolio managers, Enforcement Director Andrew Ceresney says.  By the nature of the conduct, he adds, most insider trading  cases will involve a personal benefit to the source of the information, and the commission will continue to bring cases where it thinks it can make that showing.
