The Senate passes, by unanimous consent, a bill (H.R. 4462) allowing taxpayers to deduct charitable cash contributions made in 2010 to Haiti earthquake relief on their 2009 tax returns. The chamber clears the House-passed bill for the president's signature, which is expected this week. Sen. Schumer offers a bill (S. 2937) that would suspend charitable giving tax deduction limitations for cash donations directed toward Haitian earthquake relief.
