A Senate Finance Committee staffer said the committee will be focused on operational issues surrounding the health insurance exchanges for the remainder of 2013, during a session I attended at the AHLA/HCCA 2013 Fraud & Compliance Forum in Baltimore. The committee is expected to look at any problems that might crop up as the exchanges get rolling. Hearings have yet to be scheduled.
The navigator program, which exists to help consumers learn about and sign up for the exchanges, has already drawn some flak from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Consumers began signing up for insurance coverage through the exchanges Oct. 1.
