The Internal Revenue Service released Form 1023-EZ, a streamlined application that organizations can use to apply for tax code Section 501(c)(3) status.

The form and instructions issued July 1 have been anxiously awaited by would-be charities seeking a less-burdensome method of applying for tax exemption.
Previously, all groups large and small had to file the same 26-page Form 1023. But the new Form 1023-EZ, Streamlined Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, whittles that down to three pages for smaller groups.
