The Internal Revenue Service's top domestic official in the Large Business and International Division has joined four of the division's highest international officials in leaving her post at the agency, the agency confirmed.

Laura Prendergast, the LB&I acting deputy commissioner (domestic), has retired and Sergio Arellano, international business compliance director, has been selected to replace her, an IRS spokesman said July 7. The agency didn't provide the actual date of retirement.
It wasn't clear whether Prendergast's departure was connected to that of four other international officials. Former IRS Acting Commissioner Kevin Brown told Bloomberg BNA that Prendergast had announced her plans to retire internally in mid-May.
