The Greater Capital Region State of the Workforce (December 8, 2004)
From the press
release: “If economic developers touting the area struck
gold tomorrow and signed a computer chip fabrication plant, the
Capital Region would not have the 4,000 to 5,000 skilled workers
necessary to staff it, according to a new report due to be released
today. As efforts increase to lure the latest high-tech businesses,
public and private entities must start now to train workers for
those future jobs, says the report, "The Greater Capital Region
State of the Workforce." Four of the state's regional Workforce
Investment Boards, which oversee job-training programs in 11 local
counties, researched and wrote the document that will be released
at a presentation at the Albany Crowne Plaza hotel."
