Gabriel joins UnitedLex from Hewlett-Packard Company (“HP”) where he spent almost 19 years and was most recently the SVP & Deputy General Counsel for the PC and Printing business group. Gabriel also served as head of Strategy for the Legal Function at HP from 2009 to 2015 where he worked on a number of transformative initiatives inside the HP legal department. Gabriel focuses on ensuring that UnitedLex is delivering “dial changing” solutions to both legal department and law firm clients. Prior to joining HP, Gabriel worked in the corporate department of Greenberg Traurig, an AmLAW top 10 firm with more than 1,800 lawyers.
Gabriel earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.B.A. in International Marketing and Finance from the University of Miami.
Albert Chang is an Executive Director in the Corporate Finance Advisory group at J.P. Morgan, with a particular focus on transaction structuring in M&A and Capital Markets. He has extensive experience advising clients on cross-border M&A, spin-offs, asset divestitures, JV and partnership structures, REITs, MLPs and other structured products. He also has advised extensively on capital markets transactions, including pre-IPO structuring and value maximizing monetization techniques. Since 2016, his select cross-border transaction experience includes advising: Reynolds American on its merger with British American Tobacco plc; WernerCo on its sale to Triton Partners; Micro Focus plc on its merger with HPE’s software business; Thomson Reuters on its sale of its IP & Science business to Onex and Baring Asia; Lionsgate on its acquisition of Starz; Syngenta on its sale to ChemChina; and Progressive Waste Solutions on its merger with Waste Connections.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Mr. Chang was an attorney in the tax department at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York. Mr. Chang received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and a B.A. in legal studies from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar.
Denis Demblowski is an experienced corporate and commercial attorney who practiced in-house for 32 years in such areas as compliance, corporate, executive compensation, finance, corporate governance, general commercial, international, M&A and securities. He held managerial and practice leadership positions in Alcoa Inc., a global manufacturing and industrial company, including corporate secretary, European general counsel, corporate assistant general counsel and group counsel to the company’s largest group of businesses. Since February 2016, Denis has worked as a consultant, author or legal editor for Bloomberg BNA.
Uri Doron is the chair of the New York Corporate Practice and co-chair of the firm’s Cross-Border Transactions Practice. He represents companies and private equity funds in mergers and acquisitions, complex joint ventures, private equity investments and corporate restructurings. In particular, Mr. Doron focuses on cross-border M&A transactions in the middle market space. He has represented numerous international companies, many of which are based in the Nordics and Israel, in U.S. aspects of M&A transactions, as well as numerous U.S. buyers in their acquisitions in Europe and around the world.
Mr. Doron’s practice extends to representing companies in complex joint ventures and strategic alliances, going-private transactions, corporate governance matters, equity financings and other general corporate counseling. He advises clients across a wide breadth of industries, including software, communications, defense, heating and refrigeration, home appliances, financial services, biomedical, bio-agriculture, pharmaceuticals, nutrition and healthcare, retail, food and beverage, fashion, and media and entertainment. Mr. Doron is experienced in working with companies at all stages of the corporate growth cycle.
Before joining Jenner & Block in 2013, he was a partner in the New York office of an international law firm, where he spent a significant amount of time representing Nordic-based companies in connection with their M&A activities in the United States.
Mary edits US international reference publications. Before joining Bloomberg BNA, Mary spent a year in the Federal Insurance Office at the US Treasury Department where she worked on prudential aspects of international insurance matters under the Dodd-Frank Act. Prior to that Mary was a senior manager in the Washington National Tax Office of Deloitte Tax LLP where she advised clients on a broad range of cross-border and domestic tax matters and specialized in the insurance industry and insurance products, including captive insurance matters. Prior to joining Deloitte, Mary was an attorney advisor in the Office of the International Tax Counsel where she was the primary author of subpart F and foreign tax credit regulations. Mary was an attorney in the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (International) and (Domestic) at the Internal Revenue Service.
Mary has taught international tax law as a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame Law School and as an adjunct professor of law at George Mason School of Law.
Mary received her B.A. in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame and her J.D. and LL.M. (Tax) from Georgetown University Law Center.
Diane Holt is the managing editor of Bloomberg BNA's DealMaker, the Bloomberg Law product for transactional lawyers. Previously, she worked for many years as a corporate lawyer in Europe. She served as international transactional counsel for Enel, SpA, the Italian electric monopoly, in Rome, Italy. She has also worked with a number of Central European regional operations in transition, and she managed Central European Advisory Group, the regional legal and business consultancy. Ms. Hold is a member of the ABA, the American Society for International Law and the Women's Bar Association of D.C. Her recent volunteer work includes serving as a mediator in the D.C. Superior Court, representing at-risk children in family law disputes with the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project and mentoring law students. A graduate of Wesleyan University, she earned her JD. at the University of Michigan.
Gary Clyde Hufbauer, Reginald Jones Senior Fellow since 1992, was formerly the Maurice Greenberg Chair and Director of Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations (1996–98), the Marcus Wallenberg Professor of International Finance Diplomacy at Georgetown University (1985–92), senior fellow at the Institute (1981–85), deputy director of the International Law Institute at Georgetown University (1979–81); deputy assistant secretary for international trade and investment policy of the US Treasury (1977–79); and director of the international tax staff at the Treasury (1974–76). Hufbauer has written extensively on international trade, investment, and tax issues.
Cary Kochman is Head of the North American Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Citigroup and serves as the Co-head of the Chicago office. Mr. Kochman specializes in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate takeovers and hostile defense. He has completed transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $400 billion. He has over 25 years of investment banking experience. Prior to joining Citigroup in 2011, he was Global Head of M&A for UBS and Co-Head of the Midwest Region. Prior to joining UBS in 2004, Mr. Kochman served as the Head of the U.S. M&A Department for Credit Suisse. He worked at Credit Suisse for over 14 years. He holds both his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. While at the University of Chicago, he attended the London Business School and earned a Nikko Fellowship for study in Tokyo. Mr. Kochman is a Member of the Illinois Bar and has completed both the C.P.A. and C.M.A. examinations.
David Lax is Managing Principal of Lax Sebenius LLC, a firm that assists companies and governments in complex negotiations. Dr. Lax advises on negotiations ranging from commercial contracts, joint ventures, and strategic alliances to large mergers and acquisitions in a wide range of industries. He is also Distinguished Fellow of the Harvard Negotiation Project.
Dr. Lax served as a professor at Harvard Business School. He and Professor James Sebenius of Harvard Business School are the authors of 3-D Negotiation (Harvard Business School Press, 2006) as well as The Manager as Negotiator. Harvard Business Review articles include “Deal-Making 2.0,” “Negotiating the Spirit of a Deal” and “3-D Negotiation.” With Sebenius, Dr. Lax co-founded and co-taught in HBS’s executive education course on Strategic Negotiation. He then served as an investment banker representing labor unions and then joined the direct equity investment operation of a wealthy family, where he was involved in transactions including venture capital, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures, privatizations, and financings.
Jeff Levinson is responsible for global legal strategy and legal operations at NetScout. Before joining the company in 2005, he served four years as corporate counsel at Nuance. Before that he was General Counsel at a start-up and a division counsel at a global publishing company. Mr. Levinson holds degrees from Harvard and Boston University School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College. He is Chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Law Department Management Committee (Leadership/Strategy/Operations), a board member of the ACC Northeast Chapter, and a member of the program committee of the National Association of Corporate Directors, New England chapter.
Barb Mantegani is a transfer pricing advisor with more than twenty years of experience in both the private sector and the Internal Revenue Service Competent Authority office; she advises multinational enterprises regarding a wide range of transfer pricing matters, and brings to her advice the perspective of both the tax authority and the taxpayer.
As a tax advisor both at a global law firm and at Big 4 accounting firms Barb has advised multinational enterprises regarding planning and development of a global transfer pricing strategy, documentation, cost sharing arrangements, and treaty-based dispute resolution, i.e., competent authority assistance and advance pricing agreements. Barb has managed the development and introduction into the market of a proprietary transfer pricing compliance software tool, and worked with clients to incorporate the tool into their transfer pricing compliance efforts. Barb has published articles on a wide range of transfer pricing topics, including advance pricing agreements, mutual agreement procedures, and transfer pricing documentation (including country-by-country documentation).She has been a speaker at numerous tax conferences and seminars, including meetings sponsored by the Tax Executives Institute, the American Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association, Bloomberg BNA and the Knowledge Group.
John Mitchell is a lawyer and a leader. He is committed to helping lawyers discover their leadership potential so they continuously develop themselves and their organizations in pursuit of changing the world. John specializes in working with lawyers in formal roles like general counsel and managing partner and those in informal leadership roles. Scott Mozarsky was named President of Bloomberg BNA’s Legal Division in November 2016. In that role, Mozarsky is responsible for driving the growth of the company’s legal products, including the flagship Bloomberg Law product.
Mozarsky joined Bloomberg BNA in March 2014 as President, Cross Platform Businesses, where he was the driving force behind the division, which leverages content and market expertise to deliver a range of marketing and live event services to the company’s clients.
Previously, Scott held a number of leadership roles during a 13-year tenure in the UBM plc Group. As President – Media & Marketing Services for UBM Tech, Scott was responsible for building the marketing services business and driving the evolution of leading websites Information Week.com, EE Times, Dr. Dobbs Journal and Light Reading to an online community model tied to UBM Tech’s live events.
As EVP, Chief Commercial Officer of UBM subsidiary PR Newswire, Mozarsky oversaw commercial activities worldwide. Mozarsky also served as EVP and Chief Operating Officer of CMP Media. From 2002-2009, he served as General Counsel and headed up M&A and corporate development globally for UBM’s subsidiaries in North America and Latin America.
Prior to joining the UBM Group, he spent eight years at two multinational law firms representing media, technology, telecommunications, insurance and manufacturing companies. Mozarsky, who speaks Japanese and lived in Japan, has advised numerous companies on business, financial, and legal issues arising out of cross border transactions.
Mozarsky earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Williams College and his J.D. from Fordham Law School.
Sona Pancholy leads Content Strategy at Bloomberg BNA and in that role specifically works to develop meaningful and impactful programs for our Big Law Business community. Prior to joining Bloomberg BNA, Sona led business development and client relationship efforts at AmLaw 100 and 200 firms across the country. Sona serves on the American Bar Association Law Practice Division’s Professional Development and Marketing boards. Sona has coached and trained lawyers and judges around the world since earning her J.D. from Boston University School of Law and her Masters in Law from Washington College of Law.
Larry Pascal serves as the Chair of the Americas Practice Group and Co-Chair of the International Practice Group for the firm, and has more than 20 years of experience in advising companies on their cross-border Latin American and Spanish projects, advising clients on transactions throughout Latin American and the Caribbean (as well as other parts of the world), and has traveled extensively throughout the region. He historically has been very active in a variety of markets, including but not limited to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica. He has also worked extensively on numerous multiple jurisdiction projects, particularly in the Americas and Europe. Recently, he has been active advising actors in the aviation sector in connection with the inaugural flights to Cuba.

Agnieszka Samoc is currently Senior Director Tax M&A and Planning, leading tax matters related to Danaher's transactional activity (acquisitions and dispositions) as well as all domestic and international tax planning initiatives for the last 6 years. Significant recent transactions include Danaher's Reverse Morris Trust with Netscout, the separation of Danaher into two public companies, the public acquisition of Pall Corporation as well as numerous internal reorganizations, foreign tax credit planning initiatives, ongoing legal entity management, international business expansion and similar operational planning. Ms. Samoc's previously worked for 10 years in multiple Ernst & Young's practices including transactions tax, federal tax and Australian tax practice. Ms. Samoc has spoken at multiple educational conferences covering topics such as consolidated tax, transactional tax and inversions. Ms. Samoc serves on Tax Executive Institute ("TEI") New York Board and is also a vice chair of TEI's International Tax Committee. Ms. Samoc recently took an adjunct professor role at Georgetown Law, teaching outbound tax.
Alex is a technology, media and telecom M&A Reporter for Bloomberg and host of Bloomberg’s Deal of the Week podcast. He appears on Bloomberg Television daily for the network's Deals Report segment.
Alex has been at Bloomberg since 2008. He started with the company as a television writer, eventually becoming the lead producer of two shows on Bloomberg TV.
Mr. Sturchio is the Global General Counsel and Secretary of Advanced Accelerator Applications S.A. (NASDAQ: AAAP). In these roles, he is responsible for worldwide legal functions across 22 sites in 13 countries.
Mr. Sturchio is an accomplished executive and lawyer, with a deep understanding of complex legal issues and extensive background in corporate and securities, transactional and life sciences regulatory matters. He oversees legal and non-legal colleagues and law firms around the world and works collaboratively with all levels of management to achieve business objectives.
Before joining AAA, Mr. Sturchio worked in the Corporate and Securities and Life Sciences departments of Greenberg Traurig LLP and Day Pitney LLP. He began his career as a law clerk for the Honorable France A. Schott, J.S.C., Executive Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage.
Mr. Sturchio has written and lectured extensively in the corporate and life sciences areas. He is a former Chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court District Ethics Committee and Co-Editor of the New Jersey State Bar Association Business Law Section Newsletter.
Mr. Sturchio received a J.D. degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. degree in psychology from Villanova University. He is admitted to the bars of the State of New York, State of New Jersey and Washington D.C.
Roslyn Tom is the Global Head of Transactions, Legal at Bloomberg L.P. Roslyn oversees all of Bloomberg's acquisitions and investments, including equity joint ventures and investments through its venture capital funds. Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2013, she was a partner at a major international law firm, focusing on cross-border M&A and public and private securities offerings. Roslyn graduated from Yale Law School and Harvard College.
Eleanor Tyler is a Senior Legal Editor on Bloomberg BNA’s antitrust news team. Before joining BNA in 2010, she was an associate at Locke Lord LLP, primarily litigating complex disputes in Federal court but also preparing deals for regulatory review and advising clients on trade association matters and joint ventures. Previously, she worked as an energy analyst for the U.S. Agency for International Development and an international affairs specialist at the National Marine Fisheries Service. Eleanor has an M.A. from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Brenda L. Zent is a Special Advisor with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of International Tax Counsel. Ms. Zent serves on a small team charged with developing and reviewing policy, legislation, regulations, and similar guidance dealing with international tax matters. The team also negotiates and reviews income tax and estate and gift tax treaties with foreign countries, coordinates tax treaty matters with the State Department and the Congress, and handles various inquiries on a variety of international tax matters. Before joining the Office of International Tax Counsel, Ms. Zent was a managing director in KPMG LLP’s Washington National Tax Corporate practice, where she specialized in cross-border taxation issues, and also consulted generally on Subchapter C issues. Ms. Zent has also worked in the U.S. Corporate Tax practice of KPMG’s Toronto, Canada office and in KPMG’s Minneapolis, Minnesota office, providing a full range of federal, international, and state tax consulting.
Ms. Zent has a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of North Dakota, and a Master of Business Taxation, from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Zent is a Certified Public Accountant.
