A Managing Director with Strategic Apex Group LLC, Alan has more than 40 years of experience serving a diverse range of clients, advising on matters relating to executive and board of directors compensation, employee benefits, retirement programs, ESOPs and income and estate planning. He advises clients on the strategic, financial, accounting, and tax considerations of these programs as well on various aspects of corporate governance.
     
Over the course of his career, Alan has been associated with various consulting and accounting firms.  This includes his time at Arthur Andersen LLP where he established and served as Managing Partner of Andersen’s compensation and benefits consulting practice.  Alan began his career with the Internal Revenue Service as a revenue agent and later as an employee plans specialist.  He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (NY) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. 
     
Alan is a co-author of Accounting for Equity Compensation and Equity Compensation for Limited Liability Companies.  He is a contributing author of The Employee Benefits Handbook, Compensation Committee Handbook, Employee Benefits in Mergers and Acquisitions, The Stock Options Book and Executive Compensation In ESOP Companies. He has lectured on executive compensation and corporate governance at Yale, Columbia, New York University, UCLA and CUNY. Alan also has led in-house training for a number of major companies and has served as an expert advisor to the Financial Accounting Standards Board.  He is a frequent speaker before professional and industry groups.
