Annette Smith is a partner and leader of the Federal Tax Services group of the Washington National Tax Services (WNTS) practice, specializing in accounting method issues. In this role, she advises clients on complex issues involving accounting method changes, amortization of Section 197 intangibles, long-term contract accounting, leasing and depreciation.

Ms. Smith rejoined PwC in 2001 after serving five years in the US Department of the Treasury, most recently as Deputy to the Tax Legislative Counsel. There, she shared responsibility for the development, analysis and implementation of federal tax policy through legislative initiatives, regulations, revenue rulings, revenue procedures and other types of published guidance. Prior to joining Treasury, Ms. Smith served for 10 years in PwC’s Cincinnati and Washington offices. She holds a B.S. in accounting and an M.S. in taxation from the University of Cincinnati.
