BGOV Analysts See 2014 as ‘Staging Period’ for Major Tax Changes

Analysts at Bloomberg Government expect 2014 to be an important staging period that will lay the groundwork for comprehensive tax legislation, but action on any tax overhaul will probably be delayed until 2015.
For 2014, BGov analysts anticipate there will be “selective inaction” on the package of expired short-term tax breaks known as tax extenders, which could signal congressional interest in reforming those provisions soon.
Analysts said there may also be a shift in legislative priorities resulting from changes in leadership on Congress's tax committees.
