Scott C. Budlong at Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP, provides securities law advice to private investment funds, investment banks and other financial market participants. His practice encompasses investment and trading issues under the Securities Act; SEC reporting, trading and numerous other regulatory matters under the Securities Exchange Act; and registration, reporting and compliance under the Investment Advisers Act.  Mr. Budlong participates primarily in RK&O's Securities Transactions and Regulation & Compliance Practices. He also has been active in developing the firm's Marketplace Lending Practice, in which he represents clients establishing both online lending platforms and investment vehicles designed to invest in platform loans.  He received his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as head articles editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, and his B.A.from Amherst College.

 

Mr. Budlong is the author of Bloomberg BNA Securities Practice Portfolio Series No. 328, Hedge Fund Equity Investing: U.S. Legal Issues.  This portfolio volume describes U.S. federal securities law issues and related considerations that may apply to a hedge fund manager and its advised funds pursuing U.S. equity investment strategies. It is intended to serve as a practical resource, designed so that the reader can use the Portfolio both to gain a solid conceptual foothold in the subjects discussed and to find answers to a variety of specific questions.
