This Chart Offers a Glimpse Into How Many Groups Have Lobbied PHMSA

This chart shows how many groups have disclosed lobbying the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) since it was established under a 2004 law.

The agency is in charge of regulating the movement of hazardous products from oil to explosives that are moved using a variety of transportation modes—rail, truck, pipelines and more.

There are plenty of caveats to use of these Senate Office of Public Records lobbying disclosure filings—further explained in my story from this week—but it is one of our only ways to identify who and how many people are trying to influence the agency.
