Colleen Murphy


Colleen Murphy is a tax reporter at Bloomberg BNA, where she covers tax policy and the tax implications of Republican efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act on Capitol Hill.

She covered the House Freedom Caucus’s effort to impeach the IRS commissioner, the IRS appropriations process, and controversies involving Hillary Clinton’s and Donald Trump’s foundations during the presidential campaign. She has appeared on Bloomberg Radio and has been quoted in outlets including Accounting Today.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political communication and Spanish from George Washington University, where she was the editor in chief of The GW Hatchet, the university’s independent student newspaper. She previously worked at The Chronicle of Higher Education and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.
