Any business operating across international borders faces increasing complexity in controlling, processing and transferring personal data.  With the expansion of privacy regulations across the globe, legal and security departments must be prepared to understand and comply with the full range of regulations that different countries have implemented, particularly as the increased transfer of data across borders creates exposure. The next major test of readiness will come May 2018, when the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be enforced. By this time, organizations must ensure they create an effective information governance plan and implement security systems to adequately protect their data in accordance with today’s global business reality.

Join us for this 60-minute webinar. Our panelists will discuss a range of international data protection regulations and some mechanisms for international data transfers, such as the Privacy Shield, although its future may be uncertain. Our panelists will provide strategies for developing an effective information governance plan for compliance and tips for setting up your internal systems to properly protect your data.

Educational Objectives:
• Gain an understanding of international data protection regulations and how they intersect
• Learn the risks that arise when controlling and processing personal data
• Obtain strategies for developing a unified information governance plan to protect your data during processing and transfers
• Receive tips for developing data security systems to ensure data protection during international transfers

Who would benefit most from attending this program?
Privacy & security attorneys; privacy and security professionals; data officers; any professional working with privacy and information governance issues.
