César Catalán Sanchez

César Catalán is a tax partner and head of the indirect tax practice with KPMG in Mexico. Cesar has over 20 years' experience in domestic and international tax issues with a focus on tax planning and compliance, restructuring, outbound and inbound investments, due diligence, obtaining rulings from the authorities, recurrent compliance preparation and reviewing work.

After many years with other firms, César joined KPMG in Mexico in 2004 and became a tax partner in 2005. For five years he was in charge of the human resources strategy for the tax practice, and was appointed to start the indirect tax practice in Mexico - the first of its kind in Mexico. He is also a member of KPMG in Mexico's infrastructure practice and part of the managing partners group for KPMG in Central America.

César is a Public Accountant through the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico  (ITAM). He is president of the International Tax Commission at the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Publicos (IMCP), also member of the Tax Commision of the Colegio de Contadores Publicos de Mexico (CCPM), and participates in the National Tax Commission of the Confederacion Patronal de la Republica Mexicana (COPARMEX).

César has been awarded the first place in the Research Award CCPM. He is a speaker at several Mexican and international forums, author and co-author of many publications for newspapers and specialized magazines. He has been a professor at several universities including ITAM, Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), Instituto Teconologico de Monterrey (ITESM), Escuela Bancaria y Comercial (EBC) and the Master of International Tax Program at the Universidad Panamericana.
