David Mustone is a partner with Hunton & Williams in the firm's McLean, Virginia, office, where he regularly advises employers and third-party administrators on all tax and ERISA (and related labor and securities law) aspects of employee benefits law. His clients include for-profit employers (both publicly traded and privately held), as well as a wide variety of nonprofit and governmental employers. Prior to entering private practice, Mustone served as a senior attorney in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, providing advice on a wide variety of substantive, enforcement, and litigation matters in the employee benefits area. He currently serves as co-chair for separate IRS liaison groups on determination letter and correction programs for tax qualified plans. Mustone served as chairman of the Employee Benefits Committee of the ABA's Tax Section from 2007-2008, and he is a member of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He is also a member of the Bloomberg BNA Pension & Benefits Publications Advisory Board. Mustone holds a B.A. in government from the University of Notre Dame, a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, and an LL.M. in taxation from George Washington University.
