FASB Reduces Complexity of Hedging Rules

Sue Cosper, FASB’s director of technical activities, told Bloomberg BNA that the hedging standard needed to be improved, because companies “couldn’t reflect in the financial statements the economics of hedging. They were employing certain hedging strategies but were not able to qualify for hedge accounting.“

The new, less complex standard will also help investors to understand the financial statements.
