Federal Communications Chairman Ajit Pai said he has no plans to go hunting with the Kentucky handmade rifle the National Rifle Association gave him last week.
"I'm more of a fisherman, myself," Pai told Bloomberg Law in an interview on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
On Friday, the NRA surprised Pai with the Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award at the Conservative Political Action Conference for his effort to reverse the FCC's net neutrality regulations in December.
The NRA said it planned to house the gun at the organization's National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Va., until Pai is able to receive it.
Pai said he prefers the solitude of fly fishing the rivers of Montana than the clamor of the gun range. "It's one of the things I find therapeutic even though many people find it boring."
