Greg Barton

Mr. Barton is a Partner at Perkins Coie LLP's Seattle office. His practice focuses on state and local tax, concentrating principally in the states of Washington, Oregon and Alaska. He has experience in most all facets of state and local taxes, including corporate net income, gross receipts, and sales and use, and handles administrative appeals, and litigation at all court levels, including the Oregon Tax Court, Alaska Office of Administrative Hearings, Washington Board of Tax Appeals, and the appellate courts of Oregon and Washington. He is a frequent lecturer on state and local tax topics at national conferences such as the Council on State Taxation ("COST"), Paul J. Hartman SALT Forum, Institute for Professionals in Taxation ("IPT"), American Bar Association Tax Section, and ABA/IPT Sales/Use and Income Tax Seminars. In August 2017, he was elected to serve as one of twenty-eight Council members of the American Bar Association's Tax Section, an organization of 16,000 tax lawyers, for a three year term. He is also a former chair of the American Bar Association Tax Section's State and Local Taxes Committee. He holds a Master of Laws in Taxation with Distinction from the Georgetown University Law Center, a Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon, and Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
