House Appropriations Adds C-J-S, Financial Services Markups

By Nancy Ognanovich

The House Appropriations Committee announced June 26 it added markups for two more of the annual spending bills to its schedule before lawmakers head out for a 10-day break.

Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.) said the panel has decided to go ahead and mark up the annual Commerce-Justice-Science spending bill as well as the Financial Services spending bill on June 29. C-J-S will be marked up at 2 p.m. that day and Financial Services will follow at 3 p.m. Drafts of the two bills are expected to be released June 28.

Frelinghuysen said he also will hold a full committee markup June 29 at 10:30 a.m. for the Legislative Branch spending bill. So far, he hasn’t indicated whether other bills -- such as the Defense spending bill that is the subject of a markup Monday evening -- will be added to the markup list.

Also moving ahead the week of June 26 are the annual Agriculture and Energy and Water bills. They were previously scheduled for markups on the morning of June 28.
