The Internal Revenue Service announces an extended income tax filing deadline of April 18 and releases a series of fact sheets on tax compliance issues and benefits for taxpayers to consider at the beginning of the 2011 tax filing season. The service says the extension is because of the Emancipation Day holiday, which is celebrated in the District of Columbia. Holidays in the District impact tax deadlines the same way federal holidays do, IRS says.
