IRS Unlikely to Withdraw Proposed 501(c)(4) Rulemaking, Koskinen Says

Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen said the agency isn't likely to withdraw controversial proposed rules on Section 501(c)(4) exempt organizations, despite requests by some lawmakers to do so.
“I would hope this investigation would be long over by the time we get anywhere near close to final resolution”of the proposed rules, Koskinen told reporters following a House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee hearing Feb. 5.
Koskinen said he doesn't have total control over the project. He said the expectation is that it will take some time for the proposed rules (REG-134417-13) to be finalized (229 DTR GG-1, 11/27/13).
