James Liechty is the managing member of Equalys Tax Services, LLC, a firm that specializes in cost segregation, tax depreciation, accounting methods, statistical sampling, capitalization, repairs and other tax planning strategies.  James is also very involved in providing writing tax technical documents, doing research as well as providing practical, actionable, client-centered advice.

Previously James worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the firm’s Washington National Tax Services Office in Washington, DC, as well as the firm’s McLean, Virginia, office.  While working in Washington, DC, James consulted on technical tax matters related to the timing of income and deductions for Federal income tax purposes for a broad range of industries with a focus primarily on core Federal depreciation, tax accounting, transaction costs, capitalization issues, repairs, other cost recovery issues and accounting method changes.

In McLean, Virginia, James worked in PwC’s Tax Projects Delivery Group where he leveraged his consulting experience and knowledge in the analysis and implementation of fixed asset projects and accounting methods for large companies. These projects included cost segregation and repairs matters as well as various matters related to the acquisition, maintenance, repair, disposition and depreciation of fixed assets as well as accounting method studies and accounting method changes.
