Judith F. Mazo

Judith F. Mazo is a Washington, D.C., attorney formerly with Segal Co., where, before her retirement, she was senior vice president and director of research. While at Segal, Mazo was responsible for providing guidance on public policy and legislative and regulatory issues. She served on Segal's senior management team and chaired its National Practice Council. Prior to joining Segal, Mazo was engaged in private law practice in Washington, specializing in ERISA and serving as special counsel to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and as a consultant to the Pension Task Force of the Committee on Education and Labor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Mazo was senior attorney for the PBGC and executive assistant to their general counsel from 1975 to 1979. She is a charter fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and is also active in the ABA; she is a past chair of the ABA's Joint Committee on Employee Benefits. She is also a member and former co-chair of the Bloomberg BNA Benefits Practice Resource Advisory Board. In 2002, Mazo was appointed to the Advisory Committee of the PBGC by the President of the United States. She has also served on the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council and chaired its Working Groups on Cash Balance Plans and on Disclosures Regarding Health Care Quality. Mazo graduated with honors from Yale Law School and Wellesley College.
