Mark L. Kaufmann is a Partner in Sidley Austin LLP’s Chicago office. Mr. Kaufmann joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1997. Mr. Kaufmann’s practice is primarily in the area of intellectual property and technology-related transactions focusing on outsourcing and infrastructure; acquisition, development and licensing of software, databases, and web-based products and services; and distribution, facilities management, data processing, escrow, hardware lease, consultancy, system integration and services transactions.

Mr. Kaufmann also focuses on intellectual property and technology-related issues that occur in the M&A context, including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, alliances, joint ventures and bankruptcies where his clients have included Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., Aon Corporation, Bill Me Later, Inc., First Data Corporation, General Electric Company, Tribune Company, R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, SXC Health Solutions, Inc., Sara Lee, Tellabs, Walgreen Co., West Corporation and a number of private equity funds. His clients with respect to outsourcing-related matters have included First Data Corporation, Morgan Stanley, OneAmerica, Securian Financial, Western Union and a number of funds of hedge fund and private equity fund clients.

He received his B.S. and J.D. from the University of Illinois.
