Ken Doyle is Bloomberg Government's campaign finance reporter and the managing editor of Money & Politics Report™ which focuses on campaign finance, lobbying, and government ethics. Doyle, who conceived and developed the Money & Politics Report™ in 1998, focuses his reporting on Congress, including the House and Senate Ethics Committees, the courts, the White House, and federal executive agencies including the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the Justice Department, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Doyle is one of the nation’s leading campaign finance experts. He has covered numerous landmark Supreme Court cases, including Citizens United v. FEC, as well as dozens of campaign finance, lobbying, and ethics cases in the lower courts. He has also reported on ethics scandals, including more than a dozen criminal prosecutions related to the federal investigation of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, as well as numerous other cases involving members of Congress, governors, and mayors.
He has been recognized with awards from the National Press Club and Washington Baltimore Newspaper Guild in 2012 for his reporting on partisan deadlocks creating problems with enforcement cases at the FEC. He has been a speaker and panelist at conferences sponsored by the FEC, the Center for Responsive Politics, and the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws.
Doyle has been a reporter and editor with Bloomberg Government for 25 years, where he also has included reporting and editing environmental publications for the company. He has a weekly radio appearance on Bloomberg Radio’s Politics, Policy and Power.
In addition to covering politics and government as a journalist, Doyle has seen Washington from the inside. Before coming to Bloomberg BNA, he served for several years as a legislative aide focused on environment, infrastructure, economic, and other issues for U.S. Representative Bob Edgar (D-PA).
Doyle is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
