Kirsten Kjellander

An Associate with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Vancouver since 2008, Kirsten Kjellander has experience advising clients on a wide range of domestic and international tax issues and has particular experience with the interpretation of tax treaties, the offshore trust rules, public-private partnerships, debt restructurings, cross-border transactions and the general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR).

Kirsten is also a member of the Government Budget and Finance Committee of the Vancouver Board of Trade, where she served as co-chair of a subcommittee that drafted a position paper on the return to the provincial sales tax in British Columbia. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association, and has completed part two of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountant's in-depth tax course.

Before joining Blakes, Kirsten was an Associate in the Vancouver office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. She also spent time as an intern in Beijing translating market research reports from Chinese to English.
