Linklaters Top Law Firm for First Quarter Global IPOs

April 5 — Linklaters LLP, an international law firm headquartered in London, was the top legal adviser for issuers of global initial public offerings in the first quarter of 2016 based on volume, according to Bloomberg data.

Linklaters, which ranked ninth for the same period last year, replaces New York-based Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, which was the top adviser of IPO issuers worldwide in the first quarter of last year.

Conyers Dill & Pearman, an offshore firm founded in Bermuda, was the top firm based on the number of offerings for the first three months of the year.

Bloomberg looked at 112 offerings that took place in the first quarter. Globally, companies have raised $14.5 billion from IPOs in 2016, a 67 percent plunge from the same period last year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Among the largest IPOs handled by Linklaters are the $569 million offering by Metro Bank Plc in March, the $504 million offering by Countryside Properties Plc in February and the $315 million issuance by CMC Markets Plc, also in February, according to data from Bloomberg Law: Corporate Transactions.

Paul Hastings LLP, based in Los Angeles, was the top U.S. law firm for global issuers of IPOs by volume, ranking fourth worldwide.
