EU GDPR Developments on Bloomberg Law: Privacy & Data Security

This new comprehensive feature is a one-stop-shop for EU General Data Protection Regulation Analysis and Research and includes Legislative History, Industry Scrutiny, Implementation Milestones and Interpretive Guidance and Decisions. It also includes interaction with other parts of the product including links directly to the GDPR, Relevant News, Whitepapers, Country Profiles (including new EU Profile), and our new EU GDPR Portfolio. Customers will be able to use topic and country filters to narrow results, and “high impact” content is highlighted throughout. 


This feature will be available for users on Monday, March 28th.

“What’s New” Feature on Bloomberg Law: Privacy & Data Security

This new feature allows you to see changes and enhancements to Bloomberg Law: Privacy & Data Security immediately after they are available. It includes a summary of the enhancement, graphical display of the feature, and a direct link for your convenience. Look for the little orange dot next to your name at the top right of the product to see if there is something new. Once you open an item, the dot will disappear until the next new feature is available. Feel free to provide feedback on the new enhancement by giving it a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

BLPV Whats New

Expansion of Case Analysis Functionality to Michigan Laws and Regulations

Bloomberg Law's Case Analysis functionality has been expanded to Michigan Laws and Regulations. Users can now pull up a Michigan statute or regulation and click on the Case Analysis tab located along the top of the page to quickly view opinions discussing the provision they are researching. This feature allows users to filter the relevant opinions by Keyword, Date, Court, or Topic to easily identify the most useful results. Bloomberg Law also classifies and assigns a strength of discussion score to the opinion text surrounding each citation, enabling users to focus on the legal discussions most likely to inform their research.


The specific codes and regulations where the Case Analysis functionality has been added include:

Bloomberg BNA Portfolios

The following portfolios are now available on Bloomberg Law:

  • 651: White Collar Criminal Investigations

 

The portfolio can be found by going to the Search & Browse tab, BNA Portfolios, and clicking on Litigation Practice Portfolio Series.

Banking Chart Builders

Two new chart builders have been added to the Banking & Finance Practice Center and Bloomberg Law: Banking:

  • Charter Conversions. This chart builder summarizes the procedures for converting a federally chartered bank into a state-chartered bank.
  • Residential Mortgage Foreclosures. This chart builder describes mortgagors’ and mortgagees’ rights and obligations in the event of a residential mortgage foreclosure.

The following new portfolios are available on Bloomberg Law:

  • Foreign Income 7270-1st: Business Operations in New Zealand, sorting under Business Operations Abroad (Countries)  Note: 7270-1st replaces 975-3rd: Business Operations in New Zealand (same title). 
  • Accounting: Accounting Rules and Disclosures 5132-1st: Property, Plant, and Equipment Issuers 
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Enforcement Tracker

The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) Enforcement Tracker is now live on Bloomberg Law: Banking and Bloomberg Law’s Banking & Finance Practice Center (click the ‘Practice Tools’ blade under Resources). The tool provides analyses of CFPB enforcement actions and enables clients to search across CFPB enforcement actions based on the type of institution involved, the type of product or service at issue and the legal issue presented (e.g., debt collection violations, identity protection). Our clients can use this resource to help predict likely outcomes and risk for their clients or their CFPB-regulated institution.

  • 108: White Collar Criminal Investigations. The portfolio can be found by going to the Search & Browse tab, BNA Portfolios, and clicking on Corporate Practice Portfolio Series.

Patents Now Linked to PTAB dockets

Patents are now linked to the PTAB dockets they are related to in the caption section of the docket, similar to the patent links on ITC and U.S. District Courts. On the patent itself you can link to any related docket, including PTAB, through the Related Documents tab.
