Matthew Beddingfield


Matthew Beddingfield is a legal editor at Bloomberg BNA, where he covers tax disputes at U.S. federal courts, as well as administrative changes at the U.S. Tax Court. He specializes primarily in cases at the Tax Court, ranging from small-scale deficiency petitions brought by self-represented taxpayers to multimillion-dollar tax evasion schemes used by large corporations.

He has covered high-profile estate tax cases involving Whitney Houston, Tom Clancy, and Michael Jackson. He is also the host of Bloomberg BNA’s Tax & Accounting podcast, Talking Tax.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where he concentrated his in business law and interned at Vanderbilt University’s First Amendment Center. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh.
