Matthew Stevens is a principal in the National Tax Department of Ernst & Young LLP. He specializes in the taxation of international and domestic financial transactions. He has served as Special Counsel to the Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. Michael received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from Harvard University, and his bachelor's degree with highest distinction from the University of Kansas. Matthew has served as the chair of the Financial Transactions Committee of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, and is the past chair of the corresponding committee of the Tax Section of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He is also the Chair of the Practising Law Institute's Conference on the Taxation of Financial Products, and has published numerous articles relating to the taxation of financial products.
