Mega deals may get the most attention, but most deals are valued at less than $1 billion.
Since 2012, acquirers of U.S. targets have closed, or are working toward closing, 3,685 transactions valued at less than $1 billion. This figure represented over 80 percent of all transactions announced during that period.
During the same period, acquirers pursuing U.S. targets have closed, or are working toward closing, only 90 M&A deals valued at more than $10 billion.
The above analysis is based on an examination of data pulled from our Bloomberg Law: Corporate Transactions platform regarding announced mergers and acquisitions valued in excess of $100 million involving U.S. targets over the last four-and-a-half years.
