Only 56 initial public offerings priced in the U.S. in the first half of 2016, according to Bloomberg Law Corporate Transactions Equity Analytics data—the lowest number of IPOs priced in a first half of the year since 2009.
While 2014 was a boom year for IPO activity, there has been a significant drop since in both the number of deals and in deal value.
The total dollar value of total IPOs priced in first half of 2016 was $9,074 million in the first half of 2016, a 62.3 percent decrease from $24,055 million in the first half of 2015 and a 72.7 percent decrease from $33,191 million in the first half of 2014.
