Recognized for resolving complex IP issues, Mr. Bill Atkins is a trial lawyer and registered patent lawyer who has won jury verdicts and decisions on both sides in court, before the ITC, in appellate courts and at the USPTO. He is also adept as resolving disputes through ADR and before filing. Experienced in patent, trademark, trade secret, Lanham Act, unfair competition and copyright matters, Mr. Atkins is editor-in-chief of two Bloomberg BNA treatises, Patent Litigation Strategies Handbook and The PTAB Handbook.
Mr. Atkins is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Antitrust Law from George Washington University Law School, his J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and his B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park.
An Intellectual Property partner, adjunct professor at GW Law School, and chair of the Patent Office litigation group, Mr. Pat Doody is a former patent examiner who provides strategic counsel to pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical and biotech clients. He prepares opinions, handles patent challenges before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and has successfully litigated numerous patent infringement cases in district courts and before the International Trade Commission. He also conducts patent portfolio due diligence investigations and assists clients in bringing new products to market.
Mr. Doody is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and registered to practice before the U.S Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law and his B.S. from Virginia Tech.
Mr. Bryan Collins assists clients in enforcing and defending their patents to strengthen their marketplace position. This includes both enforcing and defending against patent infringement claims in court, development of patent portfolios, and assessment of infringement risks. Mr. Collins has represented clients in numerous Patent and Trial Appeal Board trials, including serving as lead counsel for numerous interferences, inter partes reviews, and covered business method patent reviews. Mr. Collins also litigates trade secret, unfair competition matters and other technology matters.
