Peter Utterström

Currently owner and partner of Peter Utterström Advokat AB in Stockholm, Peter Utterström has more than thirty years of experience in international law and business. He is currently legal advisor to Goodyear Dunlop Nordic, and advisor to the Corporate Legal Services at Moretime AB (Publ.). His specialties include corporate finance (primarily M&A), tax law (Swedish and international), compliance – anti-corruption (Swedish and international including FCPA) and particular expertise in the life science industry.

Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Utterström was Senior Counsel at Hellström Law Firm after serving for more than 19 years as Partner, Head of Delphi’s Life Science Group at Advokatfirman Delphi in Stockholm. During his tenure there, he formed and led Delphi's Anti-Corruption as well as the Compliance group 2010. Key clients since 1984 include Johnson & Johnson and Goodyear Rubber & Tire Co. During that time, Peter also held numerous positions of influence, including Chairman, of World Services Group, a premiere professional network including some 19,000 professionals, 160 firms and 140 jurisdictions - mainly law firms and lawyers - from top firms in the respective jurisdictions.

Mr. Utterström began his career as a Tax Manager at Arthur Andersen where he advised international companies with Swedish commercial interest on tax, legal and financial issues. He became a Partner within several law firms during the 1980s and early 1990s and in 1998 became Managing Partner at Delphi, a position which included the opportunity to build up a local Stockholm law firm into a nationwide law firm, present in all major commercial business centers, by mergers of local firms in Gothenburg, Malmö and Linköping.

On the pro bono-side, Peter has been supporting new entrepreneurs as a long term board member and the chairman of Start-Up Stockholm, a trust giving free advice to some 4,000 entrepreneurs annually.

Peter is a frequent writer of articles on Taxation as well as Anti-Corruption, and frequent speaker on these topics. He is the author of the Swedish section of Tax Guide on International Transactions, M&A (etc.) (Wolters Kluwer), Bloomberg BNA's Global Tax Guide, and other similar guides. He is a member of the Swedish Bar Association, New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He is co-chair of the Swedish Chapter of NYSBA and a member of the reference group taxes and CSR to the ICC Sweden.
