Sept. 20—The Russian Labor Ministry issued an amended list of positions available to foreign workers in the Russian Federation Sept. 6.

Order No. 492 provides a list of more than 2,000 positions, including managers, chief engineering officers, project managers, HR managers, consultants and skilled workers such as mechanic/installer and industrial electrician.

Decree No. 347 of 2014 granted the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection authority to:

  •  approve lists of positions available to skilled foreign workers without being subject to the otherwise mandatory work permit requirement,
  •  approve lists of skilled foreign employees eligible to benefit from simplified naturalization procedures,
  •  approve qualification criteria applicable to foreign managers employed in the retail trade sector and
  •  regulate cases when foreign employees are employed in locations outside the regions where their original work permits were issued.
