The SEC is set to fill a top spot in its New York Regional Office with a 13-year veteran of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co.

Maurya Keating will join the Securities and Exchange Commission as an associate regional director for the investment adviser and investment company examination program in New York after serving as an AXA lead director, vice president, and associate general counsel, the agency said June 15. She will start later in the month.

Keating also has experience as AXA’s investment adviser chief compliance officer for its retail platform and managing the firm’s compliance program and on-site Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and SEC examinations.

She worked at New York Life Insurance Co. as an associate general counsel before moving to AXA.

Keating received her bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America and her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law.
