Sen. Hatch of GOP High-Tech Task Force to Roll Out ‘Innovation Agenda’ for Congress

Utah Republican Sen. Orrin G. Hatch is expected to release an “innovation agenda” Feb. 16 for the new Congress that will cover data security and other issues important to the technology industry.

“Data privacy, broadband investment, worker training—we’re going to be pushing it all,” Hatch, who chairs the Senate Republican High-Tech Task Force, said in a news release.

Hatch received input from tech leaders during Feb. 8-9 roundtable discussions that will be incorporated into the agenda, the release said. Other topics raised at the discussions included intellectual property protections, worker training and high-skilled immigration, the release said.

The discussions “provided enormously valuable insights into the needs of the tech industry,” Hatch said.
