Budget sequestration will take nearly $600 million from four major IRS functions in fiscal year 2013, including $267 million in enforcement funding, an Office of Management and Budget report to Congress shows. The report shows cuts of $267 million from enforcement in fiscal year 2013, $199 million from operations support, $114 million from taxpayer services, and $17 million from business services—all at a rate of 5 percent. In addition to a variety of other cuts at IRS, sequestration also will reduce awards to whistleblowers, according to a notice from the IRS Whistleblower Office.
