Soffía Eydís Björgvinsdóttir

Soffia Eydis Bjorgvinsdottir joined KPMG Iceland in 2003 and became a Partner in 2010. Prior to joining KPMG, Soffia worked as a tax specialist for the Icelandic Tax Authorities and was later department manager for Indirect Taxes.

Ms.  Bjorgvinsdottir is a lecturer in tax law and tax compliance at the University of Bifröst and previously at the University of Reykjavik. Her main areas of expertise are legal services and indirect taxes both domestic and European, tax compliance and services to foreign clients. Her client group consists mainly of corporate, government, municipalities and financial companies.

Soffia oversees legal projects as well as many tax projects, mainly in indirect taxes and tax compliance services for foreign clients. In the past years I have managed several very large due diligence and tax projects in various sectors, i.e. energy and industry, real estate and retail, IT and financial services.

In past years she has worked on various legal projects in the field of banking and liquidation procedures as well as restructuring projects for the Icelandic government, the most recent being the restructuring of the Icelandic Housing System for the Ministry of Social Welfare and Housing.
