State Tax Snapshot: Prominent Experts to Analyze Hottest Trends at BBNA Roundtable


 Leading state tax experts will convene at the Bloomberg BNA State Tax Advisory Board Roundtable to discuss the most important recent developments and trends in state taxation. The event will be held August 6 in conjunction with theGeorgetown Advanced State and Local Tax Institute.

 A transcript of the proceedings will be published in a special report in September.

  The topics that will be discussed include:

  •   Recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings, including the likely impact of the Obamacare decision on state finances
  •   Sales tax nexus, including the continued trend of so-called click-through nexus laws, Amazon.com’s recent deals with several states, and federal proposals to allow states to impose collection requirements on remote vendors
  • Income tax nexus, featuring the results of BBNA’s 2012 State Tax Department Survey
  • State tax enforcement issues, such as the rise of whistleblower lawsuits and litigation involving Chain Bridge transfer pricing audits
  •   Unclaimed property and New Jersey’s new law regarding gift cards
  • California’s recent withdrawal from the Multistate Tax Commission’s Compact and what it might mean for other states
  •   The 2012 election outlook from a state tax perspective
