State Tax Snapshot: Razor Sharp Gillette Case Has Practitioners Talking

Gillette and the future of the Multistate Tax Commission Compact was a main topic of discussion at Bloomberg BNA’s State Tax Advisory Board Roundtable last week among some of the most prominent practitioners. A full transcript of the proceedings along with an overview of each of the issues and developments discussed will be published in September.

 Meanwhile, the state appellate court that decided Gillettesaid Aug. 9 it will revisit its July 24 ruling that California must allow taxpayers to apportion multistate income based on a formula in the Multistate Tax Compact despite a subsequent state law intended to eliminate that formula, Bloomberg BNA Daily Tax Report’sLaura Mahoney reported Aug. 10.
