Ståle R. Kristiansen

A Partner with Advokatfirmaet Thommessen AS in Oslo, Norway, Ståle Kristiansen advises several major Norwegian and foreign companies in connection with transactions, restructurings and general issues concerning tax, corporate and accounting law. He also assists clients in tax disputes, both at the administrative level and in Norwegian courts.

Mr. Kristiansen began his career at Thommessen in 2000 as an Associate and was admitted to the bar in 2001. He was a Senior Associate from 2004-2006 and was promoted to Partner in 2007. Mr. Kristiansen was admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway in 2014.

In 2013, Ståle was part of the Thommessen team which assisted in the merger between Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Germanischer Lloyd (GL), creating a world leading classification society and environment for independent risk management. In 2010 Ståle litigated the Dell case for Dell in the Norwegian Supreme Court. The Supreme Court found that the Irish company Dell Products did not have a taxable permanent establishment in Norway under the tax treaty between Ireland and Norway. The ruling was of a principal character and is of relevance for the interpretation of other OECD based tax treaties internationally.
