On October 5-6, Bloomberg in partnership with Accenture Strategy, produced the 2nd Annual Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit, convening innovative thinkers, practitioners and executives in New York on October 5-6, 2016 to address how businesses are embedding sustainability initiatives that are both good for business and good for society.

Leading companies across the globe are realizing that sustainable business practices are a requirement to be competitive in an increasingly complex, transparent and resource-constrained world. Business plays a leading role in innovating new processes and sharing best practices that are shaping sustainable economic growth. Moreover, customers, stakeholders and employees are demanding that companies take a leading role in responding to the world’s most pressing social and environmental challenges, defined by the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and COP21.

The conference addressed critical issues in three important areas:

  • Driving profitability through social and environmental goals
  • Defining and measuring the business value of sustainable practices
  • Transformative game-changers: trust, digital and new business models

Disruptive innovations are profoundly affecting a rapidly growing number of product and service sectors in energy, environment, transportation, hospitality, fast-moving consumer goods, and many others. Integrating sustainability into the business decision-making process and adopting entirely new business models opens new markets, reduces risks, improves margins, and has become a table-stake for attracting and retaining the best talent.
