Charles A. (Charlie) Sweet serves as the practice development leader of the firm’s structured transactions practice and advises clients on the federal laws and regulations affecting asset-backed securities and other structured finance products. He has represented financial industry groups in their responses to many of the regulatory changes in this area since the financial crisis, including Regulation AB II and the Dodd-Frank credit risk retention rules. His securitization experience encompasses many asset types and structures, including innovations such as the first automobile lease securitizations. 

Mr. Sweet earned his B.A. from Yale University and his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

He is the author of Bloomberg BNA Securities Practice Portfolio Series No. 206, The Federal Law of Asset-Backed Securities: The Offering Process and Periodic Reporting.
