Monika Templeman Esq.

Monika A. Templeman is a consultant and attorney in Florida.  Before her retirement from the Internal Revenue Service, she was the Director of Employee Plans Examinations and was responsible for EP retirement plan compliance and enforcement programs nationwide. During her tenure as Director, she made major improvements to examination programs designed to bring retirement plans into compliance.  In her over 25 years of experience in IRS management positions, she served on the Design Team charged with re-engineering the IRS, where she was instrumental in the creation of the Customer Education and Outreach function in the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division, restructuring and expanding the Employee Plan Team Audit large case program, and serving as Acting Director Employee Plans Rulings and Agreements and as the EP Area Manager, Great Lakes.

As Director of Employee Plans Examinations, Ms. Templeman also served as the Executive Sponsor for the TE/GE International Initiative, the 401(k) Questionnaire Compliance Initiative, the TE/GE cross-functional Promoter Investigations Initiative to deter and stop abusive schemes and Tax Avoidance Transactions and a Three Agency Collaboration between IRS, DOL and PBGC to foster a “one government approach” to compliance and outreach to promote voluntary compliance. 

Ms. Templeman served as the Co-Chair of the Los Angeles IRS/Practitioners Benefits Conference for eight years and she served as the Co-Chair of the IRS of the Great Lakes Benefits Conference for seven years. 

She studied International law at the University of Bologna, Italy, after receiving a scholarship from New York Law School.  She earned her J.D. Degree from Southern California Institute of Law.
