Thomas Stockdale is a Director in the Federal Tax Services division of Washington National Tax Services, concentrating in inventory and accounting methods. His areas of specialization include accounting method changes, LIFO inventory, application of uniform capitalization rules, accounting periods and oil and gas. He has extensive experience in federal tax audits, tax accounting and mergers and acquisitions.
     Thomas also assists clients with application of ASC 740 to accounting method issues, including analysis of uncertain tax positions. He has represented clients before IRS, including assisting with developing examination defense strategies, preparing Protests and IDR responses. In addition he has planned and implemented large inventory costing projects for major clients in a variety of industries. He is the co-author of BNA Tax Management Portfolio 577-3rd T.M., Uniform Capitalization Rules: Method Change Rules and Special Topics. He is a frequent instructor at his Firm’s national staff training and speaker at various industry and professional society meetings.
